A graveside service for Hope N. Modrow, a 100-year-old King City resident, will
be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Kalama, Wash.

Mrs. Modrow died of causes related to age Wednesday in a King City care center.

She was born Hope Nettleton on May 26, 1890, in Spencer, Iowa, where she was
raised. At the age of 14, she moved with her family to Portland and was a member
of the first graduating class at Washington High School in 1909.

She married George F. Modrow on June 11, 1911, in Portland. Mrs. Modrow lived in
Kalama for many years until 1980 and had been a member of the United Methodist
Church in Kalama. She had lived in the King City area for the past six years.

Mrs. Modrow worked for Cowlitz General Hospital in Longview, Wash., for a number
of years until her retirement in 1955. She also had worked for Pacific Inland
Transport Co. and was employed at the Vancouver, Wash., shipyards during World
War II.

Survivors include her son, George N. of Kelso, Wash.; daughters, Patricia H.
"Pat" Bryant of Lake Oswego and Dorothy M. Schlegel of Forest Grove; eight
grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

The family suggests that remembrances be contributions to a favorite charity.
