THOMAS OWENS

     Born in Wales, July 4, 1813; in 1833, came to New York; in 1836, moved to
Ohio, and in 1841, to Missouri.  Two years later, came to Oregon and settled at
Lafayette, Yamhill County.  His present residence is at McMinnville, and
occupation, farming and stock-raising.  He married Emiline Young, in Portland,
Oregon, December 25, 1850, and they have eight children -- Catharine K., Ellen
E., James R., Thomas L., George, Evan, Mary E., and Annie J.
